GTA 6 Preorder Guide and Editions: Player FAQ

Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the most anticipated releases of the year, and preorder questions come up constantly. This FAQ collects what Rockstar and Take-Two have confirmed so far, separates it from rumor, and adds a few buying precautions worth keeping in mind before you spend money.

When does GTA 6 come out, and on which platforms?

The scheduled release date is 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In its February 2026 earnings update, Take-Two said the game remains on track for that date. The road here was not straight: the game was first announced for Fall 2025, then moved to 26 May 2026, and then moved again to the current November date.

A PC version has not been officially announced. Press reports about a later PC release exist, but until Rockstar confirms one, any PC date you see is speculation. If you play only on PC, there is nothing official to preorder yet.

Are preorders open, and what editions are there?

Preorders opened in late June 2026. Two editions are available, with prices confirmed by Take-Two:

  • Standard Edition: US$79.99, the base game.
  • Ultimate Edition: US$99.99, the base game plus extra vehicles, weapons, apparel and some locations tied to the story of the two protagonists, Jason and Lucia.

Prices outside the US depend on your region and store, so check the listing on your own platform store rather than converting the dollar figure. Rockstar has not published a full itemized list for the Ultimate extras in the facts we rely on here, so treat any detailed breakdown found on forums as unverified until it appears on official pages.

Is there a preorder bonus?

Yes. Preordering, or buying the game before 20 November, includes the Vintage Vice City Pack. That timing matters: the bonus is tied to purchase before that date, not only to a preorder, so buying on launch day itself should still qualify according to the announced terms. Double-check the wording on your store page before you rely on it.

One detail surprises many players: boxed copies at launch contain a download code, not a disc. If you buy a physical box for a collection or to resell later, keep in mind you will still need to download the game and that the code is what grants access.

What is confirmed about the game itself?

The setting is the fictional state of Leonida, including Vice City, with Jason and Lucia as the two playable leads; both appeared in the official trailers released in December 2023 and May 2025. In August 2026 Rockstar also announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, which premiered on Netflix on 27 August before arriving on Rockstar's YouTube channel.

Much more remains unannounced. There is no confirmed achievement or trophy list, no confirmed heist system, no confirmed mission list and no confirmed online economy. Series history offers clues, since GTA V had story heists with planning choices and GTA Online uses GTA$ and Shark Cards, but none of that tells you exactly how the new game will work.

Should I preorder at all?

A preorder is a bet on a release date and on content you have not seen in full. GTA 6 has already moved twice, so it is reasonable to ask what you actually gain. The main concrete benefits today are the Vintage Vice City Pack and, on digital storefronts, the option to have the game ready to download on day one. Since the bonus also applies to purchases made before 20 November, waiting until closer to launch costs you little if you are unsure.

If the price is the deciding factor, compare the US$20 difference between editions with how much the listed Ultimate extras matter to you, rather than with rumors about content that has not been announced.

How do I preorder without getting caught out?

Most preorder problems come from where you buy, not what you buy. A short checklist:

  1. Buy through your console's official store or a well-known retailer you can contact.
  2. Confirm the edition name and price match the official Standard or Ultimate listing.
  3. Read the refund or cancellation policy for preorders before paying.
  4. Ignore offers of early access, leaked builds or cheap keys from unknown sellers; these are common scams.
  5. Never give your PlayStation or Xbox login to anyone who promises a discount or early unlock.

You may also come across third-party pages built around the launch, such as the preorder overview at https://gta6boostingteam.com/preorder/, which collects release and edition information alongside the gaming services that site offers. Pages like that can be a convenient summary, but official store listings and the Rockstar site remain the authority on prices and contents.

What about boosting or account services after launch?

Expect a wave of offers for money, unlocks or progression help once the game is out. Before considering any of them, remember that boosting, account sharing and real-money trading can violate Rockstar's and the platform's terms of service and can lead to penalties, including restrictions on your account. Since the game's online systems have not even been detailed yet, nobody can know how Rockstar will police them.

If you are undecided between editions, a reasonable approach is to choose based on what is confirmed today, the price gap and the listed Ultimate extras, and revisit the question once Rockstar publishes more detail on its official channels.
