Transport

Transport

Transport works differently in Russia's large cities: some have a metro, while in others surface transport is the main option. For a concert weekend, two things matter most: getting to the venue on time and getting back late in the evening. This section gives a short overview of the metro in the cities on our list, tips for the evening and general rules for taxis and car sharing.

Plan your way back from a concert before your way there: you'll travel there by day and without hurry, but back late and together with the entire audience.

PermNoSurface transport serves the city; check evening services in the official app or on the operator's website
YekaterinburgOne line, opened in 1991The metro is handy for trips along the line; for venues away from it, use surface transport or walk

Getting to the venue and back at night

  • Plan your route to the venue during the day and find the nearest stop or station
  • Ask the venue roughly when the event ends and compare that with the last transport services
  • If the last services leave earlier, decide straight away what will get you home: a taxi, a walk back to your accommodation or a night near the venue
  • Keep your phone charged: take a power bank with you
  • Return along well-lit, busy streets rather than taking a shortcut through courtyards and wasteland
  • Save your accommodation address on your phone so it's available offline to show the driver

Taxis and car sharing: general rules

  • Book a taxi through an official app and check the car's number plate and make before getting in
  • Don't accept offers of a lift from strangers outside the venue
  • Demand for taxis spikes after a concert: move away from the crowd to a nearby street and book your car from there
  • Car sharing requires registration and verification of your driving licence in advance; don't leave it until the evening of the event
  • Don't drive a car-sharing vehicle if you've had anything to drink, even a little
  • Before a car-sharing trip, check the drop-off zone in the app: the rules vary between districts
